CryENGINE 3, budućnost video igara

U novom broju časopisa PC Play, Carl Jones, direktor poslovnog razvoja za CryENGINE 3 tvrtke Crytek, najvećeg inovatora u svijetu video igara današnjice, u ekskluzivnom intervjuu iznio je nekoliko vrlo zanimljivih detalja o njihovom najnovijem game-engineu CryENGINE 3, oko koga se u gamerskom svijetu podiglo mnogo prašine. Gaming zajednice širom svijeta ostale su osupnute prije dvije godine, kada je predsjednik CryTeka, Cevat Yerli, također za PC Play izjavio kako njihov novi engine više neće biti namijenjen samo tržištu PC igara, već multiplatforski, što znači kako će pokretati igre na konzolama nove generacije,  na Xboxu 360 i PS3. Obzirom da je Crytek godinama bio sinonim za inovacije u vizualnoj prezentaciji PC igara i naslovom Crysis ih nevjerojatno približio filmskoj kvaliteti, svi su se pobojali kako će novi engine biti korak unazad, obzirom da zatvorenost arhitekture konzola na omogućava značajniji napredak. Po rječima  gospodina Carla Jonesa razloga za brigu nema. Novi engine će doista biti modularan i multiplaformski, ali će samo na PC –u moći prikazati punu kvalitetu. „Za Crytek će PC uvijek biti prvi“, kaže Jones, pa će tako CryENGINE 3 između ostaloga koristiti potpunu prednost višejezgrenih procesora i najnovijih grafičkih čipova. Pored toga, ovaj engine će donijeti korist  i vlasnicima nešto slabijih računala, koji će nove igre moći igrati bez  trzanja, naravno s poneštro smanjenim postavkama vizualne kvalitete u odnosu na vlasnike jačih mašina. Prva igra koja će biti pogonjena novim engineom biti će Crysis 2, za koju se očekuje da će izaći prije isteka 2010. godine.
